Dorothy was and is recognized internationally as the first woman to do this. Try to get the bullet catch book "Twelve Have Died" wonderfully written by Ben Robinson who devotes an entire chapter to her. It is quite unnerving to the performer to have a loaded rifle pointed at their face! Later David Blaine and Criss Angel would use the concept of catching the bullet in a metal cup in their mouth.
