This was a classis. The Chevy Impala of RC buggies. The Frog, Hornet and Fox ruled the day back in the early 80's. Great stuff! Still a ton of fun to run today!

My first car was a Frog that had been turned into a Blackfoot... It had all the Hot Trick composite chassis upgrades you could get along with a Thorp diff and drive links. It was a racing truck before racing trucks really existed (JrXT, Traxxas Eagle, RC10T and so forth). I bought it off some guy in the parking lot at the pizza place near where I lived who was selling all his stuff to pay his bail bondsman.

the Frog was the first Tamiya buggy to utilize light weight plastics to replace heavier metal parts. This massive weight reduction resulted in a significant performance advantage making the Frog extremely popular with both the average enthusiast and the hardcore racers. This also generated strong support from aftermarket companies with a vast selection of performance upgrades.

they drove okay and the hornet was pretty much indestructable but the frog just has way too many parts for its own good. team losi vehichles later on were still much better handling in the latter 80s. on my tamiya hotshot, well the plastic really didnt age well, mind you this is in hawaii so there is no chance of the plastic drying out and cracking. they shouldve used some better polycarbonate plastic

heh heh all weather rubber boot..it was a cut off balloon! these cars were crap the rough rider was better and weather proof

the rough rider and sand scorchers were before these and they were better made and lasted longer i still have mine from 1982, these cheap buggies we only about 60 bucks when they came out so they were of course crappy, but they sold alot of them

Hornet has a solid axle if i remember correctly. It was the affordable version of the Frog.
