@andzwe Bill was to the Stones what Mick Mars is to Motley Crue. A member of the band but marginalized in terms of respect and appreciation. Gets old, I would imagine as Bill mentions here.

So when it comes down to it the Stones were a very well payed, routine job for him. Maybe some of the studio work was rewarding, but apart from that.....? Sort of what made Mick Taylor leave the band, although he didn't have to take so much time to make that decision.

Yeah,that broken hand story of 78'tour was really tough thing. Bill had to PLAY with broken hand not MIME like late Brian had to do in TV studio.
