Final Fantasy Legend - 1 - King Armor(Part1)

This is the first video in my walkthrough of Final Fantasy Legend 1 for GameBoy, also known as Makai Toushi Saga.

You start the game with one character, and can recruit up to three others from the guild. There are three kings in the first world, King Armor, King Shield, and King Sword. In order to get the king's armor, you need to go to a cave in the southeast corner of the map and kill the bandit.

It should be noted the bandit isn't weak so you should get bronze helmets for all of your characters, they provide little extra protection but are very cheap. Plus, they are the best helmet you can get at the moment.

Depending on how patient you are you have two choices in armor and gauntlets. You can save your money and get golden armor and gauntlets which make the rest of this world (and the tower after it) very easy. On the other hand you can get bronze armor and gauntlets for much less.

I tend to buy the best armor for my primary character and as I upgrade I move the armor I replaced down the line. Taking the time to get decent armor early on cuts down on the cost and frequency of trips to the inn. While bronze armor lessens the damage taken by your characters in the first world, Golden armor makes you almost invulnerable.

Once you are satisfied with your armor, you can start buying strong and agility for your human members and hp200 for everyone. Though it may be tempting to buy hp200 first, I would suggest strong and agility. Remember, the faster you can end a fight the less damage you take, the less you have to use your weapons, and the less time you're sitting there beating on the monsters. Essentially, hitting harder lets you save time and money, which translates to being able to buy more upgrades faster.

What's the difference between Final Fantasy Legend, and Final Fantasy Adventure?

Final Fantasy Legend is actually Makai Toushi SaGa, the first game in the SaGa series. Final Fantasy is Seiken Densetsu, which is the first game in the Mana series. (like Secret of Mana or Legend of mana, and it was later re-released on GBA as Sword of Mana)

Both were released under the name Final Fantasy even though they were unrelated because Square wanted to boost sales by linking it with an already popular series.

Oh, good times. I remember once I played with just one character, Human M, and did a ton of GP grinding. Then, I spent it all on Strong potions.  I was doing like 140 damage to everything!
