Earlier this month, Secretary Donovan started a conversation with HUD employees about why they believe in the work they do and why they are passionate about HUD's mission. Hundreds of HUD employees have already shared why they believe in HUD. Now, we want to hear from you -- our stakeholders, partners, and the people whose lives are made better by HUD. Why do you believe?

To participate, send us a 60 second video response....

  • I believe this gentleman means well. I wish him much luck in trying to get those under him to care enough to try to help us...for we are at their mercy, and they are currently merciless.

  • This has not been my experience.

  • They only way you can lead is through love.. To work for an public agency you have to have love or compassion not just a paycheck. The HUD program should not be used against a participant because they are an advocate or independent. This is what happening around the country , residents are intimindated to speak. Most residents lives in bad neighboorhoods and what some staff says, Be glad to get your governement assistance!

Most staff "believe in their paychecks!!!" Not about the people.

  • HUD is a government program ran by people who do not have the compassion for their own stakeholders. I had witness personally as a former Commissioner how staff harass and use the program to intimindate residents on the program. HUD can be ran by the residents really who cares where they live not the paycheck . When some staff is the worst sterotyping towards their own residents and use bureacracy/rules to be "out of touch" from the reality or having a relationship with the residents is poor .

  • HUD provides funds to house and support chronically homeless seriously mentally ill consumers. Without HUD, many of these individuals would not have the opportunity to live independently and would continue to utilize expensive and scarce community resources such as emergency rooms and police man-hours. HUD makes this a win/win situation – consumers receive the support and housing necessary to be successful in the community and the community receives a decreased burden on its resources.
