Yes I was there too. I verified all possible points that she said. Some were true and dead on te money. Many, like this were false. I have also read the entire bill twice.

Only 1 version has been made available to the public, the original. That is the one. I admit that she said it had been ammended in her commitee. However, the amendments do not include a change to the decrease in med. $ according to members of that commitee. Degette says these will be offset by reduction in drug cost, but <25% of med. goes to drugs. Some cost may be offset, the bal. will not, leaving a deficit that will either add to the deficit + raise taxes or cut services to make up the diff.

DAHAZE - had you been in the room, as I was, you would have heard as DeGette answered a question regarding a specific part of "the bill." There are actually more than one version of healthcare reform bills under consideration. She is speaking about the bill that her committee has drafted. Which version are you referring to?

I am curious what side of the issue you are on nina. Here is just 1 case of where Degette lies about the bill. It says in black and white and has been confirmed by Obama himself that this bill will cut Medicare by $500 million. She claims it doesn'tcut, but read the bill. It also has a clause for the eventual elimination of medicare altogether. Dont take my word for it. Read it for youself. She is a liar!
As for lies, the conservatives have tallied up a huge number of them: death panels, a plot to not cover Republicans (which even they retracted), funding for abortion, etc. The problem is that people don't listen to the truth even when it is calmly and repeatedly explained to them.

DeGette says they won't cut Medicare BENEFITS, but that they will cut from wasteful areas by doing things such as negotiating lower drug costs, etc. It totally does not eliminate medicare. Medicare is government-run single payer healthcare, so either you support it or you don't. It sounds liek you support it. So there is no reason for you to be against this plan. By the way, it was Democrats who passed Medicare and Republicans railed against it, so who deserves more trust on this issue?
