  • For example, instead of drawing a line through 8 & 4, you can use lines eta = 0 and xi = 0. It would be an overkill, but they would still do the trick. 

  • I am enjoying your lectures very much, professor, but I do have one little objection: you never said whether these shape functions are unique or not. In fact, in one of your previous lectures, you arrived at the same shape functions using all three methods, which could lead a student believe that they ARE unique. If the only requirements for N_i is that =1 at node i, and =0 for all other nodes, then the set of shape functions is infinite.
