As we continue peeking into the twisted sex life of Robert, an obscene phone caller, we also see that perhaps he can have full-contact sex after all...except it's under unusual circumstances. Flashbacks to his childhood reveal his voyeuristic feelings for big sis (sexploitation star Linda York, who never went hard) and mom. The prostitutes he pays to come over for company can only engage in sex with him if they role play as punishing vixens who make him feel dirty, lower than scum.
Monique Starr, a lower-tier starlet who never amounted to much, is given the lead role of her career as Carol, the terrorized neighbor who is home alone while hubby's away on business, with no one to turn to, and the phone won't stop ringing... Her character is written as kind of a dingbat; she can't recognize Robert's thick accent from the previous phone assaults as they sit together discussing the calls?? But Starr portrays her with a vulnerability and terror that is nicely realized. She's no Andrea True in LYN CARTER, but then, who is??
