Another song off of CAKE's '98 release 'Prolonging the Magic.' One of CAKE's more popular and well-known songs, this one has a deceptively difficult guitar part; this take is pretty sloppy, but it's good for what it is I guess.

Gear:

Epiphone Sheraton II; neck pick-up throughout, volume and tone maxed
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe; bass + mid 9, treble 6, rev + pres 5, clean volume 2, clean channel
BOSS OD-3; overdrive pedal, level at 9 o'clock, drive at 10 o'clock, tone at 2 o'clock

  • hows the quality on the guitar? i was debating on whether i should get this guitar or another 335 no name brand

  • @KsideHb the particular guitar i played in this video was an epiphone sheraton; this one was pretty old(from the 90's i think) and was neglected for a long time, but it was still in very good condition as far as the finish/frets/pots etc. go. as for other sheratons, they've all been really awesome and smooth when i've played them, so as far as coming straight out of the factory

  • @KsideHb the pickups, however, are a different story. epiphone pickups, in general, are a huge step down in quality from, say, a gibson 335 pickup. they tend to put out a lot less and sound a little more thin, but you also get what you pay for with an epiphone. while there are a bunch of really awesome 335 copies out there (some better than the gibson model itself), an epiphone is always a safe bet; lots of famous artists use them regularly. change the pickups though, if you get a chance.
