The elusive RARE White Squirrel was spotted at Jamaica Pond in Jamaica Plain. This time, I was there to record it on video.

"Its an Oriental Tree Squirrel with the scientific name Callosciurus finlaysoni (Callosciurus translates as "beautiful squirrel") found in Thailand and other parts of South East Asia. So if you sighted a white squirrel here in North America outside of captivity, its almost certainly a color variant of one of our many native species of the genus Sciurus"
this little guy was actually a girl and she passed away last year, the spring of 2009. no worries though, she wasn't eaten by a hawk or anything, she was found dead lying on a rock, probably fell out of her tree

ive heard of black squirrels but never white, im having alot of trouble with greys - people putting out bird tables - they don't know what its like, i go into more detail on my 3 squirrel vlogs. i just hope the albino squirrel doesnt cause as much destruction as the greys.
