Joskus vuonna 50 eKr Egyptin kuningatar Kleopatra julisti kastemadot pyhiksi eläimiksi, joita ei saanut häiritä niiden tärkeässä työssä maanmuokkauksen alalla. Lierojen salakuljetuksesta pois Egyptistä sai kuolemantuomion. - In 50 BC, Cleopatra, the queen of Egypt, decreed that the earthworm be revered and protected by all her subjects as a sacred animal. Egyptians were forbidden to remove it from the land, and farmers were not to trouble the worms for fear of stunting the renowned fertility of the Nilotic valley's soil. Earthworm smugglers were punished by death.

  • no kyllähän onkiliero näyttää vähän kuin liikkuvalta suolenpätkältä jos sitä lähempää tarkastelee :)
