My Song is the debut drama from C & B Films, a new production company headed by director William Mager and scriptwriter Charlie Swinbourne.

Starring Lara Steward, My Song is a coming of age story which follows Ellen, a young deaf girl stuck in the middle of the deaf and hearing worlds.

Feeling as if she doesn't fit in, Ellen learns sign language, attempting to enter the deaf world by taking part in a sign song competition in London. However Ellen is about to find her journey far more difficult than she first thought.

Funded by the British Sign Language Trust (BSLBT), who commission programmes in British Sign Language.

My Song is thought-provoking and reveals a hidden truth about the deaf community in Britain today.

The film premieres on the Community Channel and Film Four (on UK digital TV) on Monday 23rd May 2011. For full times, go to: http://bslbt.co.uk . It will be available in full online at http://www.bslbt.co.uk/programmes/

  • It's a film that speaks to you - and it proves that a great film doesn't need dialogue in order to get across its point. I can empathise and sympathise with her.

  • @CLinc0ln Thank you for your lovely and perceptive comments on My Song. We really appreciate it!

  • That's so so beautiful song!! is that movie?? What is called?? So i can get a dvd. Thanks..

  • Was only watching this because of Will Dunn (and being a Harry Potter fan I wanted to see what he was like before DH P2). However, now I'm glad I watched it. It was a really thought provoking story and almost brought me to tears. It takes a lot to bring me to tears.

  • this was beautiful. such a touching story.

  • can anyone recommend anymore signed film, this one was amazing bt its the only one i can find. I know BSLBT produces many films but i cant find them on the internet

  • Lara!! You were amazing!! I'm so proud of you!! =D Its a very deep video. Maybe through more videos like these, more messages can get out =D

  • I loved this picture. Great story telling. I thought it was very well done. Even though I was about to give up after the part where the boss of the club rejects Ellen and when she has an argument with her mom, I was relieved by the way it ended.

  • Please Please Please Please tell me theres a dvd of this film? It is so deeply personal to me. I see myself as this girl.

  • Absolutely beautiful and so powerful, I want to share this with everyone I know here in the states. As an interpreter, I often encounter ignorance and this video reminded me that those moments of acceptance and understanding are one of the reasons I continue going back to work! Very well executed, powerful, and honest message. And a huge thank-you for employing deaf actors, I hope the American film industry takes notice!!

  • I cried, I felt so sorry for her. But I'm sorry I have to say it:

    WILL DUNN <3

  • I love this film! It is really sad to watch someone who feels that they don't belong, who feels rejected and that no-one is interested in her. I thought she was going to commit suicide for a second at the end. Thank goodness someone displayed interest in her! It shows how one person can make all the difference in the world when so many don't give a damn and few actually care. Great, great inspirational film - there's always someone out there.
