I recently did a day trip to the area that use to be known as Arkham, Massachusetts. Arkham was never incorporated, so after the WW2, the surrounding communities needed more space to develop housing for returning GI's. Land was partitioned and sold until eventually Arkham was made up of other towns.
I tried to go to nearby Dunwich, but most of that was destroyed when the state created the Quabbin Reservoir.
I plan on putting together a more in-depth documentary on the area in about a year. Consider this something of a trailer for that project. I tried to get some cross-sections of the town. Arkham relied on trade from the Miskatonic River and industrial manufacturing. I went around and took some footage of warehouses and old factories along the canals that were part of the Miskatonic. It should also be noted that the Miskatonic is an antiquated name, so you wont find it on maps. I went around and took a look at some of the old houses in the surrounding area, as well as some of the old stone work in the woods. Old stone ruins are pretty abundant there, but no funding has been put into research or preservation of these sites. The situation is very tragic, as a lot of these sites have much to say about pre-industrial and pre-colonial New England.
The Song is "Arkham" by Paul Roland off his album Re-Animator.

Is it a joke? It depends on whether you have stumbled upon Arkham on some rain driven day.

A haunting remembrance of forgotten, mislaid, and drowned towns. Beautiful.

Wonderful! Only in dreams and half-conscious reveries have I walked down the grimy alleys and bustling thoroughfares of centuried, witch-haunted Arkham...

Great Video! What is the name of the song? I can't find anything on it (which is fitting considering the topic.
