Estonian Song Festival, traditional music in the national amphitheatre. Over 20,000 singers, and 100,000 people.

A video record of a great day with my girlfriend, friends and family. That's my wonderful cousin Ene in the first minute of the video. Non-family, hang in there for some cool music later.

Sorry for the shaky parts. This is my first video with my iPhone. In the middle, there is a clip from the television coverage of a great song "Mis maa see on" by the singer Siiri Sisask. The "soundtrack" music is by my favorite Estonian group called Elletuse, including some musicians who performed in the Song Festival orchestra. Big thanks to Mr Paul Daniel for permission.

Enjoy some Eesti roots!

My English Translation of "Mis Maa See On"

What land is this? There's no mountain,
Only the endless forests and bog marshes.
But the people here are full of magic power
And the strange stories of their songs.

What land is this? First night eats away the days,
Then a day is so long that it absorbs the night.
Both are passing the same way.
While the stranger is resting, the local does the work.

What land is this? Could the people here provide no more than slaves?
Who could ever collect the pain?
I wish that love would come and pain would end.

What land is this, where the bounty is in danger,
Where freedom is buried in the ground,
Where is the justice, where is the Justice of the Peace,
Where can I find justice for the afflicted?

What land is this? Sympathy here is corroded,
The heartless shameful chest is rusted.
I might even run to escape from here,
But something holds me back for more.

What land is this that makes me hold on,
And what it does not know.
After all, it does not cover me, it doesn't feed me,
And yet brings me luck.

What land is this? Can I understand it?
Can I no longer be without it?
What land is this? How could she possibly leave her kids without a mother?

What land is this? There are no mountains.
Only the endless forests and bog marshes.
But the people here are full of magic power
And the strange stories of their songs.
