i really think you have the same "low bass" Problem like me... So put the Surround mode to "Rock Arena", set the Surround Parameters to Room Size :"Small" and Effect Level"1".
So you only have stereo with a bit Center, but much more bass. :)

That's stupid.
A thing called SUBWOOFER (a thing that eats more watt than the average stereo amplifier) exist just for that reason.
I've a similar system (JBL Studio L + Onkyo TX-SR768) with a subwoofer and everything works great.
