CCD at www.ContraDance.org has a series of Contra Dance Basics videos. These instructional contra dance videos provide instructions and lessons on how to contra dance for new and beginning dancers. This chapter is about a contra line. Topics of hands four, partner, neighbor, progression and what to do on the end of the line are taught. Special titling helps new dancers better understand dancing in a contra line. Rob Harper and Susan Davis teach while experienced contra dancers illustrate and demonstrate on screen. DVD version containing all updated chapters and more can be found at www.ContraDance.org under What's Contra Dancing.

Yes. Ones are "active' and twos are "inactive". We use the language intechangeably. I did not want to add too much "duplicate" terminology in the video as to add to the confusion of new dancers.
Thanks for the comments and input and yes there are several other regional differences.
