@aldushuxley No you're not old, but you're right, you just don't see films like this anymore. But you WILL see films of equal caliber on Turner Classic Movies channel. One of the best channels on cable or anywhere. This is such a beautiful tune - I love it!

@jarileigh Small world. There was not much that could be done for women who suffered from uterine cancer in 1949. Faced with the prospect of a horrid operation and/or a slow death, she chose to end her life quickly via suicide. She was thirty-six and left a husband and three young sons.

@duright08 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2003 and pulled through on sheer willpower I think, because I told my son that I would never leave him no matter what, long before I got sick, and I knew that it would break his heart to not have me as his Mom. I knew that he was too young to understand, and it would take forever for him to process it and not feel abandoned, and even after he understood, he may still have felt abandoned. So my heart truly goes out to you!

@jarileigh Thank you. Mother died when I was six. I hardly knew her and often wonder how different my live may have been, had she lived.
-
@duright08 I am so sorry for your loss

Marco un comienzo en mi vida, y un después .
As a young boy I lost my mother to cancer. As a young man I saw this movie and was very moved by the portrayals of life and loss. This music touched my heart then and it does still. Very moving and uplifting.

Maybe I am just getting old, but you really don't see films like this any more - at least, not often.
