Life Time Fitness is now offering 16 hours of Flying Yoga Instruction, over 8 weeks, 2 hours a day per week in locations where there is significant interest.
Here are a few of the things you can expect from this intensive:
We will begin by focussing on the basics and technique by isolating strengthening postures which will condition us for Flying Yoga Transitions (partner work). These asanas will be strung together in a Flying Yoga Vinyasa flow.
We will explore various strengthening drills which will assist us in our path moving towards a strong inversion practice. Drills include variations on
tri-pod headstand, forearm balancing, hand stands and much more.
We will end class by progressively learning Thai Massage techniques which are intended to be restorative and compliment the vigorous practice of
Flying Yoga strengthening drills and partner work.
Flying Yoga combines the spirit of yoga with the power of acrobatics and the kindness and compassion of Thai Massage. Flying Yoga will take your yoga practice to the next level and will transform how you experience life and interact with others. (No partner required to take the class).
If the ultimate objective of practicing Yoga Asana is to achieve presence, then Flying Yoga is an expressway there. Flying Yoga demands total body awareness not only of yourself but of your partner(s) as well.
Safety Qualifications
All participants must be able to do the following without exception:
1.Hold tri-pod headstand for at least 30 seconds
2.Handstand against the wall for at least 15 seconds
3.Hold plank while your ankles are held by partner for 15 seconds without belly sagging, core engaged.
I wonder if Gary and his Flying Yogis would give a performance at a Benefactors' Dinner at the Twin Cities Yoga Festival in October!?? We could get Amy with her Yoga Trapeze and Rebecca with her Tango and put on a really good show for the benefactors...
