Gmote 2.0, developed by Marc Stogaitis and Mimi Sun, available for FREE on the Android Market. Average consumer rating: 4.5/5 stars.

I love this app! It turns your phone into a remote control for your media computer, basically. Especially useful when your computer is set-up to your entertainment unit and you don't want to switch to the mouse/keyboard combo. This thing is awesome and I really suggest it for multimedia users.

  • Ciao. How can i control iTunes from my android using gmote.?

    Grazie :)

  • @choleexxx Unfortunately you can't control iTunes with this app, but there are other apps that allow you to do just that. I believe most of them cost money, or you can use the Winamp or VLC remotes for Android.

  • Unfortunately, I cannot get this app to work no matter what.

  • @2muchfreetime4irakli Have you downloaded the server on your PC? Search "Gmote Server" and run/install that on your computer. Where are you having issues exactly?

  • @Stephenkjanes

I've downloaded the application and the server. I run the server on my computer and connect to 192.168.0.12 (router IP) on my phone. It hangs there and it's unable to make a connection. No firewalls are running. Could it be my 2.1 firmware?

  • @2muchfreetime4irakli I don't believe it is the firmware, since my phone is 2.2 and connects fine. I think you may need to find the IP of the computer you are trying to connect to and input that IP (should they be different), this would be my guess without seeing your setup. Alternatively, you can use the Winamp application but it's not quite the same.
