Myanmar's Muslims seek refuge in Bangladesh - 26 Dec 08

Forced out of their homeland by Myanmar's military government, more than 20,000 Myanmar Muslims, known as the Rohingya, now live in two increasingly dilapidated border camps in Bangladesh.

They are not officially recognised as refugees, and many people in Bangladesh resent their presence.

Al Jazeera's Sohail Rahman reports from the town of Kutupalang.

ppl saying they aren't burmese, there is evidence of rohingya people in arakan province from 1554 ad from the period of great bengal, maybe even earlier. they don't speak burmese? burma has a lot of languages, there's the mon, shan, and kachin who have their own languages too, are you saying THEY aren't burmese? im not sure why the rohingya were kicked out, maybe they're not registered or whatever, but burma began taking them back from bangladesh so what now?

@nyinyiznhh Bangladesi people aint bad..they will not kill them...we can give them more good living condition..but u know bd got huge population and they are not even bangladesi....where bd needs space for the huge amount of population.so how bd cannt give space to this refugees....bd and mayanmar govt should do something for this refugees....they said...they are burmese....i got two people in U.S.A...they said they came in usa by bd's passport...and i asked them that are u bumese he said yes..
