thats a triplet delay and not a dotted 8th. and your method doesnt work in a live band setting cuz we all know that a typical drummer tends to fluctuate tempos. the delay shouldnt dictate your playing tempo. it should be the other way around. you can achieve a dotted 8th if you know how to tap it the way it should fall in the tempo.

i think that if you can't tap in a dotted eighth to your tempo...
than you shouldn't be playing in dotted eighth

I agree!!!

that's a triplet delay, dl4 does not have a dotted eighth mode, you can dial in a dotted 8th as you can with any delay - but it won't do it for you. check the manual there.

that rickenbacker is sick

can you get a dotted 8th on a dd3
-
Please retire the dotted 8th delay!

@groovadelicrelic Nope. You can't tap quarters into the DL4 and get dotted eighths. That's not what this video was showing. What you can do is set the dl4 to 16th note delay and tap on beats 1 and 4 and you will get the .8th. I hated doing that on stage so I bought a nova repeater just for .8th.

@TheWanguitarist1 hahahahaha

do you play on a worship team?
the video wasnt meant to show someone playing. it was meant so that all of the people that hate the dl4 cause it cant get a dotted 8th note delay can see that it actually can get a dotted 8th note delay.

What you are doing is letting the time of the delay dictate your tempo, rather than setting the delay to match the tempo of the song. If you try to do this with a click it just wont work. What you CAN do with this pedal (and any tap tempo delay) is simply tap a dotted 8th rhythm. Or you can set it 16th note repeats and tap on beat 1 and 4 of a measure. That will be more accurate for most players.
