@CinemaHistory What I think about when I see early film or hear an early record, is that, in terms of photography and sound recording, we are but 2 or 3 generations removed from the invention of this technology. We are the first to hear with our own ears and see with our own eyes our progenitors. We stand, like a man in Sumer (or ancient Egypt, the Indus valley, the yellow river, etc...) at the beginings of *recorded* history. I don't know why more don't see how interesting that is...
