Lets look at what I consider to be the most effective core exercises. Some of these movements are more advanced, so I suggest you check out my Fat Loss Report for some progressions to help you prepare for those exercises. (Sign up at http://www.StrongerAndLeaner.com ).
Here the Five Best Core Exercises:
http://strongestcore.com

1.Power wheel rollouts (resisting extension)
2.Power wheel pikes (resisting extension)
3.Hanging knee raises (flexion)
4.Resist the Twist (resisting rotation)
5.Deadlifts (extension; resisting flexion)

  • I also have the Power Wheel, and those pike-ups are PAINFUL! In fact, I've yet to find an EASY exercise with that torture device, lol. Best piece of gear I've ever bought, that's for sure.

Nice workout. I normally do deadlifts as part of my leg routine though, but I know it does employ the core muscles a good bit.

  • @Edsta92 - Thanks for the comment... agreed, the Power Wheel is a painfully great piece of equipment!

  • awesome workout mate, but doing the deadlift you should not have your knees completely straight when you lift the weigh...I did read somewhere it can damage it...it should be just a little bit bend...anyway nice workout :-)

  • Thanks for the comment, but I'm not sure what you're speaking of... these are not stiff leg deadlifts. If you mean at the top of the movement you should not lock out the knees, you are mistaken: the proper form of the conventional deadlift dictates a complete lockout at the top, with full extension of the hips and knees, and a strong contraction of the glutes. But I'm always interested in reading the sources people are talking about when they say "I read somewhere"... can you send me the link?

  • I dont remember where I read it, I think it was in some video on youtube, but I really dont remember.

  • Fair enough. Either they were mistaken or you might have misinterpreted it. Regardless, deadlifts are a tremendous exercise when done correctly. Stay strong!
