Bensen-Scott Big Band performs an Ellington classic at the Katonah Museum of Art - 9/13/09.
Featuring a young Keith Gurland on alto.
Keiths amazing technical capabilities are very evident here:
the alto becomes toy in his hands. Absolutely
uncanny control of his instrument..the intervals can be study by themselves.

  • Now that was sweet! That Keith Gurland, wow! And such a nice band, just great.

  • SAX IS GOOD BUT TO SWEET? MR DRUMS PHIL AMBROS FROM BUDDY RICH AND SINATRA AND FRIENDS....SEE HIM ON YOUTUBE SINATRA AND PHIL AMBROS

  • Burnin'!

BTW...I just read the writeup...he is playing a toy alto. Hard to see here, but on the other side of his sax is a picture of Bert and Ernie. Sometimes the keys light up when hits a high note, which isn't often.
