ultrasound gesture control http://www.netbooknews.com Check out a demo of a smartphone picking up hand gestures via the use of ultrasound sensors. The technology uses a handset's microphone to figure out hand positioning and movement. It means you don't have to actually touch the screen, with Jacobs wheeling his way through an image carousel just by waving near the device. Good news for those who loathe smudges and greasy finger prints. Qualcomm indicated that the new gesture control could find its way into smartphones and tablets by the end of 2012, and that it will be embedded into the company's future chips.

  • why would i want to wave my hand across my phone..

  • hahaha

  • thats just stupid

  • The phone looks terrible and that ultrasound looks less response than just simple touching the screen... fail tech

  • Awesome tech but it would more practical for (large) displays and screens on which one can work or present a presentation as compared to smartphones and small tablets. But BRILLIANT NONETHELESS!!

  • So it goes nuts in your pocket then. Awesome.

  • "ultrasonic energy has two potential physiological effects: it enhances inflammatory response; and it can heat soft tissue." wikipedia/wiki/Ultrasound

  • how far does the ultra sound frequency go for it to be receptive onto the screen? what are the long term health effects of constant ultra sound usage?
