Comedian/Host Steve Allen (1921-2000) described his transition from radio into television, working with writing team Madelyn Pugh and Bob Carroll on his prime-time radio show, The Steve Allen Show, and his first television appearance in 1949 as a wrestling announcer for ABC in Los Angeles. He fondly recalled hosting a multitude of Steve Allen Shows for television, and the classic Tonight with Steve Allen, as well as the creation and hosting of PBS' Meeting of Minds.

What a incredibly talented man - comedian, musician, songwriter, author, social conscience - yet a gentleman, a gentle, modest man. I miss his type of performer.

I really loved Steve, I probably never got my homework done in high school cause I stayed up late every night to see his TV show. I wish I could have met him. What a talent!
