This Bossanova melody is also known as Little Boat. Written by Brazilian Jazz composer Robert Menescal. Performed on my simply awesome Technics FA-1 organ. At the end of the song, you'll hear the sound of waves breaking. That sound is made by the Technics organ using a feature called Background Sounds. Add the following at the end of the URL to hear in stereo "&fmt=18"

  • Thank you!

  • Gladly done. Another way to create more power within a song is to use a chord, with the melody note at the top. Mostly, you'll duplicate a left hand chord. Example:

    Left hand C chord: CEG

    Melody note: E

Then you would play GCE in the right hand (C chord in a different fingering).

By the way, chord is not chorus. A chord is a combination of tones, such as CEG, while chorus is a sound effect. The FA-1 surely has it.

Try combining chorus and chords... but try not to blow off your roof.

  • I really appreciate your tips as I've had very little in the way of lessons. Yes, I absolutely plan on enjoying the Technics for a long time. Thank you for the comments.

  • Well played. My comment would be to make the sound a bit fatter using chorus, and speed up the piece a little bit.

FA-1 is Technics' best organ ever (and they've always had the biggest and best readable screen). If I wasn't such a sucker for Hammond drawbars and a Leslie (which led me to a Hammond XH-200), I would surely have sought out an FA-1.

Hope you enjoy the instrument for a long time to come.

  • Gracias.

  • What a great sound. More please!!!
