This is a classic commercial for the Milton Bradley game, BATTLESHIP. The players are at an opera, which I believe is Wagner's Tristan and Isolde and are constantly being shushed by their wives and then by the singers themselves. Very funny stuff from 1981.

  • The music from this commercial totally sounded to me like music that could be played at the pearly gates during one's judgement.

  • That's Wagner's Love-Death theme from "Tristan and Isolde" for you, lol!

  • Somebody's sleeping on the couch tonight.

  • 'You sank my battleship!'

I have always said it exactly like the bloke in this ad.

  • Well while that is basically the truth, there is also a certain strategy to decide where to put your shots(Search patterns). It is also good to analyze your opponents placing of his/her ships and find a pattern.

Anyway... We used to play alot of battleship at school though we did it the old way with pen and paper.

  • that commercial was always on. Back in the days when tv ads didn't make you want to jump off a roof because they were so irritating like todays.

  • my sister was born the year this commercial came out. When we play battleship and I tell she sank my battleship she'll go shhhhhhhhhhh.

  • Imagine making a similar commercial now, except one of the guys guesses "C-4" in a rather loud voice and causes a bomb scare?

  • The following advertisement for the game was back from January 1978 ... to the best of my recollection. I hope the year would be of some help for you. This advertisement would be my all-time favorites from Milton Bradley. Good Luck!!
