My apologies if you believe I have done so.

Clips to the movie "Gods and Generals," set to the tune "Another Side," written by Mark Miller, and performed by Sawyer Brown. This is my first video, so please be kind. I've never done one before, so this was a test run.

  • I love the level of ignorance here. People thinking Lincoln was standing up for freedom when he was going to concede the issue of slavery to avoid a war, and slavery was not even the main cause of the war. Read a history books you morons.

  • @DrZilla1 "High tariffs had prompted the Nullification Controversy in 1831-33, when, after South Carolina demanded the right to nullify federal laws or secede in protest, President Andrew Jackson threatened force. No state joined the movement, and South Carolina backed down. Tariffs were not an issue in 1860, and Southern states said nothing about them. Southerners had written the tariff of 1857, under which the nation was functioning. Its rates were lower than at any point since 1816".

  • @leroy33100 The Constitution says nothing about allowing states to secede from the Union. That's a myth, and an attempt at an excuse. And it was not an invasion. He sent troops into the Southern part of the United States. The CSA was never a legitimate country. No foreign countries recognized the CSA as a country. Hence, not a country. Recognition is a requirement, you know. Also here's a quote from an article

    that I recently read.

  • @DrZilla1 Sorry, but thats not true at all. Most arguments, and calls for secession were over taxes. There also was this thing you might have heard of called the ''constitution'',which gave states the right to leave the union if they wished to do so,peacefully, and that is what the south was doing, until Lincoln sent union ships down south to bottle up southern ports. He also sent union men to invade the south these actions were seen as in act of war by the south.

  • @SargonTDP I recommend the same thing to you. Every argument for secession had its base roots at slavery.

  • @DrZilla1 It is not my job to give you a history lesson. I suggest you find a few good history books regarding the civil war on amazon and do some research on the subject. This might teach you something about the social and economic climate of the times and the reasons which were far beyond slavery that caused this.

  • @SargonTDP They were fighting for "States Rights". But what rights were those? They thought Lincoln was going to free the slaves, so they were fighting for the right to OWN slaves.

  • @wm7445 god bless

  • why does this song make me cry

  • Im not sorry for anything my family did. They didnt own slaves but had farm land. When the authorities said Virginia is joing the Confederacy and the Federal Gov was sending an army to fight them, take their land, and everything else they took up arms. Im proud of my heritage and I dont care who it offends. The Shenandoah Valley is still our home and I would fight them again if I had to.

  • @hhubble97 No problem, for once theres someone on youtube that has relised and understands the true reason most men fought for the South and the Confederacy.
