This is a live painting & improvised music performance which myself and Martin Kuwawi did on April 7, 2009 at The Special Projects Gallery (York University). This performance is to demonstrate the process of creativity and influences between painting and music. As the painter, I would be painting to the music and the musician would be improvising to the rhythm of my paint strokes.

  • @yamikun Well the point of the performance is to collaborate with the musician so he was playing to my painting, and I was painting to the music. Each stroke was an reaction towards the musical beats. I do admit that I'm not a very theatrical person, so I don't show much body motion. But the idea is to paint what I hear, and I focus mostly on my wrist movements. Also I don't think, I just listen and paint. Thanks for the note, it's nice to hear what other people have to say.

  • it seems to me that you just stood there, painting whatever you wanted without giving much tought or trying to percept what was happening in your surroundings. Maybe its just me, maybe our ideas were different, maybe it has to do with we being different in our body language, but i just cant feel anything while watching this, still i would like to continue this conversation with you and show you my piece, maybe we could come to an understanding and help each other.

  • im really sorry miss annie? am i correct? but i just dont feel like this was a good performance, after watching your video, and from personal experience (i have done a similar performance with a friend who plays saxophone) i have to that i believe, you didnt achiev what you wanted, you are completly still, i dont feel that the music had any influence in your work,
