I've been a NRPS fan for 35+ years - and never once have I been able to listen to them w/out tapping my feet. Buddy Cage is amazing. cheers to them for all the years of musical happiness they brought to me.

@captainzorikh A very sharp take on what makes this version such a joy to listen to.
Too many people who barely know the New Riders just think of them as fun loving apostles of grass. But they had a feel for country and country music and their music has aged very well.

What I like about this version is how it brings out some of the urgency and joy of new love by upping the tempo, syncopating the lyrics, adding the lap-steel guitar, and throwing in the repeat of the first verse, with a slightly more ecstatic delivery, all while keeping the signposts of the original, the cowbell, the electric guitar riff, and the harmony.
