Some clips of Richard Stallman from the documentary "Hackers: Wizards of the Electronic Age." I wrote up a blog post about Richard Stallman's visit to Stanford on April 29-30, 2010 over at http://feross.org/stallman-stanford/

"Hackers" back then: Experienced programmers who enjoyed creating software

"Hackers" now: People who write messages via someone's facebook when they leave the room

2:20 what an arrogant douche that guy is. (or is acting like here)

If I bought the painting, I could doodle all over it if I want. I could tear it to shreds then burn it. It's MINE as I bought it, so I should have the freedom to do with it as I want.

As the @GeoffreyBernardo said below, it's not the original that I'm messing with, it's a copy. And guess what, if I bought the original, I can do whatever I want with it too. Anything other than that is trying to control others and arrogance.

Interesting, the evolution of words, no?

A lot of people still use it in reference to programming etc (like, "I'm hacking through some code" or "I'm hacking around in the terminal").

"I don't want anyone hacking into that product and then changing it because then it wouldn't be mine".. I see one ethical issue with this thought.... "MINE" the typical 5 year old attitude... "MINE MINE MINE" When you share your work with the outside world you risk people copying your product anyway. Why not just let them see the source code?

Yep , and interestingly early in the piece RMS did actually say he didnt think people could make money off free software, but as it turns out he was happily wrong about that and you can. He was in a sense more right about free software being the future, than even HE realised, back then.
