Esther, did you not read the info abt the vid that Baxter's indeed "eased peacefully from life"? Clearly his humans loved him. A therapy dog visits my late mother's nursing home; they love their job! & the patients love them. Even in the grudging case of my nearly comatose mom, the dog elicited an amazing breakthru in awareness, conscious short-term memory & speach. One day, out of the blue, my mom, who rarely spoke by then, clearly told me, "There was a mangy dog in here earlier today." :)
I guess Lupinssupins you did not read my entire comment. I am not opposed to Therapy dogs visiting nursing homes. In fact I had to great ones that I took myself and were certified therapy and blind lead dogs. I am opposed to that particular dog who was not having quality of life. As I said there are able body therapy dogs available. This was the only video I saw, later I heard he passed, good for him. I don't need to see another of him, one was hurtful enough for me.
Beautiful video! It'd be the perfect way for a dying patient to die. Whether the patient has AIDS or other life threatening illness, if he/she has a dog like Baxter or another dog as a companion, at least they wouldn't have to die alone. Between the song "Angel" and the video, I'm crying like a baby, it's so beautiful.
No matter how you feel about animals, you can be assured their love is real and unconditional. I know God blessed these creatures with a love that only he understands! God Bless you "Baxter" and animals have no soul, yeah right!
