From the Princeton University Archives, history professor Anthony Grafton speaks about Princeton's unique pedagogical tool, the precept. Precepts are small discussion groups led by faculty or graduate students that provide an open forum for students to explore course readings and themes. The system was instituted in 1905 by Princeton President Woodrow Wilson.
