  • As a life-long Star Trek fan, I have to say, some of the rest of you really are as annoying as everyone seems to think we all are. Of *COURSE* it's the Enterprise-D engine and transporter rooms. You really wanted them to rebuild the Enterprise-A sets for a British TV commercial shot, like, 10 years after they tore them down? You get that it's television, right? It was all on a couple of sound stages in Los Angeles. It's made of plywood and 2x4s. Sheesh.

  • "I don't need a brolly you wally!" LOL As an American I've never heard that before.

Quite possibly the strangest commercial I've ever seen.

  • I laught My ass off! XDD

  • @lekoman Upon review, nowhere in my last posts did I mention details about the sets or what was acurate.

I'm aware it's not real, but to "call someone out" because your opinion is that they're being ridiculous is just being judgemental. Star Trek means different things to different people & no one has the right to judge them. Gene's vision was diversity, love & understanding for all & that's what I live. If you can't understand that, then I'm sorry.

    Goodbye my friend.

  • @Trekker1801 You're the one who freaked out at me for suggesting that people stop sweating small stupid details like whether or not they used the correct transporter set for a silly commercial from 20 years ago. I never stole anyone's lunch money, but I don't have a problem at all calling people out when, as adults, they're legitimately being ridiculous. IT ISN'T REAL for Godsake. Gene's vision was storytelling. Making it into a religion and being dogmatic about it is gross.

  • @lekoman You couldn't leave it alone could you? You couldn't just say to yourself, "He has issues" & leave it at that. You had to put in the "basement" comment & more or less show yourself as the bully who stole other kids' lunch money in school. How proud you must be that you live to put down other's because they like things differently than you do. I suggest you re-examine Gene's vision of this show & try to apply it to your life. You may find a positive change happening.

  • @Trekker1801 Yeah. Just don't forget there's a real world, with real people (some of whom have imaginations that dream up Star Trek) and real problems outside your basement, dude.

  • @lekoman Then we exist on quite a different plane my Trek friend. It's been a pleasure talking with you, but I'm going to respectfully move on to someone else who sees it for more than just "really good fiction".

    Live long & prosper.

  • @Trekker1801 Your point totally misses my point. They didn't spend the money. That's what some of the commenters here are bitching about. Those commenters are silly and should be told so. They give those of us who can appreciate the humor of the commercial without getting uppity that the sets are "wrong" a bad name. I don't think Trek is "bare bones silliness;" as I said, I'm a life-long fan. I just think people who are divorced from the fact that it's (really good) fiction are ridiculous.

  • @lekoman I tried that for a while & it was boring.

My point is, to many people Trek is more than the bare bones silliness you appear to make it. If you don't like it, that's fine, but to put those of us who take it to mean more than it is to you down is just wrong.

And if they want to spend the money so what? You act like it was yours they spent. If it doesn't appeal to you, just click the red X insread of lashing out at others.

  • @Trekker1801 A life long fan and yet, yes, I have retained my connection to reality. Tough to believe, I know. An expectation that an advertising agency spend hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars in order to rebuild sets for a silly 30 second commercial in order that it doesn't break your illusions about a (really excellent) television franchise is unrealistic. Getting all fired up about it is the reason people roll their eyes at sci-fi fans. May you one day join us in reality.

  • @lekoman A life long fan & have it in you to say this? Sure, all that's true, but to some its more than this. May you one day understand.
