Corky 2, Orky 2 and their first calf (spanish audio) part 1

Sorry for the bad quality. On February 28,1977 Corky went into labour with her first calf. Orky 2 was the father. The litle male was the first killer whale conceived and born in Captivity. Sadly the calf had brain problems and wasn´t nursing because the tank was very small . 2 weeks later, the calf died. A very interesting and sad video =(. COrky had 7 seven calves, nothing survived. Corky is alive and now lives in SWC with 6 orcas: Kasatka, Ulises, Nakai, Sumar, kalia and her adopted daugher Orkid

Siento la mala calidad. el 28 de febrero de 1977 Corky 2 dió a luz a su primera cría. Orky 2 era el padre. La cría era un macho y se convirtió en la primera orca en nacer en cautiverio en todo el mundo. Por desgracia la cría nació con daños cerebrales y no mamaba (esto último porque el tanque era extremádamente pequeño y Corky no podía ponerse en la posición adecuada). 2 semanas después de su nacimiento, la cría falleció. Un video interesante y triste a la vez =(
Corky sigue viva. Ahora reside en SWC junto a otras 6 orcas: Kasatka, Ulises, Sumar, Nakai, kalia y su hija adoptiva Orkid

It was the shape of the tank, the mother could not straighted her self to allow the baby to access the nipples.

Why wouldn't it nurse because the tank was too small?

Its such a shame that none of her calves survived, she would have been an excellent mother. The trainers really loved her it looks like, they knew the tank would lead to her baby's downfall and did everything they could to help out.
