This is the Rainbow Ride formerly at The Great Escape Amusement Park in Lake George N.Y. This is VERY RARE FOOTAGE...because this ride was usually not running! Just like the Bobsled and Nightmare and many other rides that don't operate at this park. We somehow were lucky and the ride was operating and we shot some video. The Rainbow is a HUSS thrill ride that puts riders in several long rows and makes circles in the air. The ride's placement is such that those on the ends on the ends appear they will crash into a park building or large elm tree as they circle. This ride was partially DISMANTLED for the entire 2007 season, and park officials stated that it was only out for repairs that could not be performed onsite, and that it would reopen later in the 2007 season. This was NOT THE TRUTH. It sat idle and never reopened and was recently removed completely. The Great Escape opened in 1954 as Storytown USA a five-acre theme park commemorating Mother Goose. Three years later the park that was geared to small children opened its Ghost Town, the first of many themed areas that would be added over the years. Twenty-nine years later in 1983 the park retired the Storytown USA name and became The Great Escape. Today, Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom theme park and waterpark are two parks for one admission price, spanning more than 140 acres and featuring more than 135 rides, shows and attractions. The park is located near Lake George on Route 9, between exits 19 and 20 off I-87. This park has a few great rides for adults but as of recently they have been putting in ride to attreact children and families. If you are looking for thrill rides this park will be a dissappointment and will take only 1/2 day to visit. The Comet is their best coaster and is an excellent top rated wooden coaster. The Boomerang is also a good Shuttle Coaster at the park.
Two hands up!

  • This looks like an exact model of our old rainbow which left us in the mid 90's and is now operating happily in Poland. I have a facebook group for raindow fans. Search "HUSS Rainbow" and you will find us... there is only one like it!
