  • Actually, this is not about being honest. This is about respecting your fellow human beings. To start, Spanish should not be rendered equivalent to living in a poor neighborhood. There are plenty of people who live in the U.S., speak only Spanish, and are good and prosperous people.   • I have taught in an inner-city magnet school for highly motivated kids in NJ for over 20 years. We have kids from Africa, Asia, South America, Europe (in addtition to the regular 'home-grown population), most of whom speak other languages. In one generation, they all speak with American accent, follow baseball, love the usual junk food like most kids and are American to the core in their values. Many are evangelical Christians. They almost all attend top-notch colleges. What's the problem, Newt?
