I bought this for 20 bucks on a fleamarket.

It's an original German World War 2 field telephone. The manufacturer label on the inside says it was build in 1942. But instead of putting it into the shelf so that it becomes dusty I decided to build in a voice over IP telephone.

I think the result is realy showable and the transmission quality of it is perfect.

  • The WW2 German FF33 phones are not that rare, you should have bought another one and and hooked them up. Also you can buy a rotary dial for them and plug it into your wall jack instead of messing with the phone itself. What manufacturer is you phone?

  • I am from Germany and wouldn't get 10 bucks for it on eBay. There are dozens of offers with FF's in better condition. I don't feel sorry for the mod, I like it and could always get a better one.

From the historical point of view ... shit on it, I don't care.

And the for the manufacturer ... I don't know and I'm not in the mood to take the phone appart.

  • That sucks you messed up a WW2 unit, you could have used a postwar field phone >:|

  • So what? It still looks absolutely authentic besides that I put the electronics into the battery case. I'm not into wargames and will probably never find somone else with another field phone to try it.

  • well, i don't know if it's rare but obviously it's old and looks like it could tell some stories. the manufactory label inside is from 1942.

    thanks for commenting

  • @MrRedRooster -- Damn, if you have any more that you want to sell for $10, let me know :)

  • i THINK IT'S GREAT GOOD JOB, i HAVE A COUPLE STILL IN ORINGINAL STATE HOOKED UP TO EACH OTHER AT EITHER END OF THE HOUSE!.

  • J'ai un téléphone de campagne allemand aussi, daté 1942, avec la manivelle mais sans batterie.

  • dude u now anyting abowt wowo 2? i war movie makah. i poducer of swaving pivate wyan

  • I believe I have that exact same phone, if not its real close because it looks identical to the one you have there...I found it buried in a field when I was a kid and have kept it ever since...I've always wondered if it was worth anything but after reading your comments it sounds like its not worth shit.....

  • You should of kept it the way it was and sell it on "Antique Roadshow" XD.

Lots of would pay heaps for it.

  • I have the other unit, we could have talked :)

It's a cool mod, but I can just imagine someone buying it once you die, though.. "What a shame that someone put all of this obsolete technology in a nice old field phone"
