Yes the young woman was absolutely stunning for the song and a great fit amonst the waterline and shore of Galveston. I wonder what her name is? She looks familar; maybe she appeared in the western series "Seattle" in the (I think) 60s and 70s. Maybe she just has such classical beautiful features she just has that "I've seen her before look". Another good song is Marlboro Country. Both have strong bold sounding musical scores. There are no songwriters like this today in the USA only thugs
It wasn't intended as a Vietnam War song. Jimmy Webb(the writer) admitted in interviews that he didn't have the Vietnam War in mind when he wrote the song, as he imagined it taking place during a battle of the Spanish-American War,[1] the time period when the City of Galveston reached its civic peak
I don't doubt you are right. However, I have seen the song played to videos of Vietnam. That is why I associate the song with Vietnam. No law broken.... Thanks for the info.
