If you are overweight or are looking for a high volume workout in a short amount of time, combination exercises such as walking lunges with lateral raises are a great way to do so.

Since lateral raises work a small amount of muscle mass you would not be using your time most efficiently if you did them by themselves if you are overweight or looking to tone.

Walking lunges are difficult enough, why not add some lateral raises which will get your heart rate up more as well as allow your to work your medial deltoids.

It is best to do your lateral raise at the bottom of the lunge or as you go down so you are not using momentum to cheat.
