Just my opinion, but "Yentl" is one of the most absorbing productions Streisand has ever given us! I recall when it was released thinking,"Oh a film about turn of the century European Jews,I'll never 'get' it",me being a gentile & all! But,oy,dare I say that, lol,oy,what a film! Why on earth did I ever worry? Streisand came good as usual & this remains a firm favourite! And I'm sure Papa heard her!

They should have kept it in, toned down Yentl's dialogue, and not make the scene between the matchmaker and the potential groom obviously staged. If they filmed the scene with the matchmaker and groom walking and leading up to Yentl's house and introduced them and conversed inside the house, then the scene would've worked. This looked too staged. But nonetheless, interesting and entertaining...

That would have been so nice if they had kept it in. I really think they should have. It emphasizes the importance she puts on something being "written" which would help a modern person understand the soing better. (though it's my favorite song in any musical ANYWAY hehe)

Well, its obvious was never the "matchmaker matchmaker make me a match, find me a find, catch me a catch" kinda woman. Gosh, now I want it on DVD! I have it on VHS and I'm all mushoga.

Very dramatic at the end. Who are the actors playing the matchmaker and the
widower? .Yentl;s father is played by
Nehemiah Persoff.
