Wombat Hostel, Vienna Austria

I really had no other place to put this video, but I figured that maybe someone contemplating staying here, might be interested to see what the rooms are like. I enjoyed my experience there. It was kind of a partier's haven, with a good, rowdy bar and cheap beer. It get's my thumbs up of approval.

We stayed at Wombats in Wien in 2002 and enjoyed it. Nice atmosphere, clean and friendly.

Yeah, aside from the stinky Chicagoans that eventually came and joined me, Wombats was pretty nice. I dug the bar and the atmosphere. They kept it clean and I appreciated that. The free Wifi was definitely a bonus!

i just went to vienna and I also satyed at Wombats.....I really loved it there!!!

Actually where I live they sort of generally just hop around the place - and always see as road-kill (I mean kangaroos not Australians)

u're prob not the first and only one to think so though.. i think a lot of Austrians must get wary of being confused with our crazy kangaroo hunters across the Tasman.. should have got that "No Kangaroos in Austria" t-shirt..

Thanks for taking time to share this - but it makes my earlier comment "smell the blood" of Australian...a little gruesome!It is a touching story though.

the owners called the hostel Wombats as a tribute to this Australian guy, "John" (?) who they met at a Melbourne pub while travelling over there..John was crazy about wombats and animals and wanted to start a hostel, naming it wombats. sadly John died in a car crash a few years later.. hence the owners called the hostel Wombats - and the name has stuck since! the website will prob tell u more..
