A video of the September 24, 2011 lightshow of the Stone Bridge of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Music by Paul Todd; used by permission.

The bridge lights present a lightshow from 7:30-7:45 each evening (during Daylight Savings Time) before settling into a lighting scheme for the rest of the evening. The lighting schemes reflect the time of year, holidays, or other special events and observances; the bridge is lighted until 10:30 pm. (When Daylight Savings Time expires, the lights will be on from 6:30-9:30 pm instead).

For more information on the Stone Bridge, visit http://www.jaha.org/stonebridge.html, or http://www.facebook.com/stonebridge . Professionally-shot B-roll of this lighting dedication ceremony is available.

For a lighting schedule, visit the Johnstown Area Heritage Association's calendar page at http://www.jaha.org/calendar.html ; the bridge lighting is colorcoded pink.
The bridge lights are administered by the Johnstown Area Heritage Association, which owns and operates many attractions in the Johnstown Discovery Network, including the Johnstown Flood Museum, Heritage Discovery Center, and Johnstown Children's Museum.

  • Why is this the first I heard of this. Gorgeous. I will have to see it. When is it on display?

  • @leener33gmail At this time of year, a 15-minute lightshow is presented from 6:30-6:45; then the bridge is lighted in a scheme that reflects the time of year, special events, or holidays from 6:45-9:30.

  • Absolutely beautiful!!!!! Johnstown should be very proud. Congratulations to all involved. It takes a lot of hard work for something like this to be accomplished. It doesn't happen over night. Salute!!!!

  • @pennyarizona1 Thank you! You are correct that projects like this take a long, long time to do -- we've been actively working on this since 2007.

  • This is only like less than 5 minutes away from my house and I love driving past it and seeing the amazing colors almost every night :) just beautiful.

  • I can't decide if this is J-Town's version of Fremont Street (Vegas, of course) or historical preservation a la the Johnstown Mentality.

  • This should really turn things around for Johnstown.

  • The bridge looks beautiful. Congrats to my Uncle for his vision to to everyone else who contributed to this amazing project.

  • As a J Town native I'm happy to see this installation! Maybe it can flash red and blue if a flood is coming! Thomas Koestler, '77 Survivor...
