Ive attended a beginner Muay Thai class for about 6mo now. In 4 minutes you just explained to me what my instructor has been struggling to tell me.

@Jaram1013 Daddy? I've spent sleepless nights reliving this scenario (not really). Ideally, I'd chuckle, offer to buy him a drink... once we get to the bar I excuse myself to use the bathroom & slip out the back door. Avoiding conflict with deception is always a good option. If it was some crackhead, I grab his hand (grabbing my nuts) w/L hand>knee to groin area>R hand used to single hand clinch > from there I have control. BTW, my fiance thanks you helping me play out this lil experiment :)

@whotookdonnierules Because I guess you guys are looking and observing to much...like you are analysing your new opponent, but there is no analysis needed cause it's complete chaos...Just throw your own techniques and control the rythme of the fight...But don't let new students spar with you regular right away, cause that may cause some bizar results I presume ! But what you say really makes sense guys...

You are the first person that got into a correct 45 degree angle Boxing/muaythai stance.

I am currently training, but as I switch teachers technique errors come up. Its really starting to confuse me how my kicks aren't coming out solid and swift. I understand everyone kicks diferently but I am not sure the proper technique. Thank you for posting these videos, they are really helpful.

Kicking over the chair is a great idea I'm gonna start doing that! Thanks Donnie your videos are epic and really helpful. Oh and I love shadow boxing too it's not only a great way to get your form down but an amazing way to come up with new combinations! :)

Hey I got a question for you, how would I train my balance on kicks? What I mean is, that I'm confident I'm performing the technique correctly but I have trouble landing back into the stance. I usually end up leaning forward on my front foot from the momentum, though it only takes a moment for me to regain balance.
I feel like it hinders my follow-ups/defending counter-attacks.

Great kick.

@whotookdonnierules I feel like i've learned a lot from just watching your videos. My shadowing has gotten a lot better in the past couple days, especially the way you describe and teach how to execute certain moves. I can only imagine what it would be like live in class.
Time to hit it harder to prep for some Donnie B. style muay thai soon :)
Thanks again

@BakiTheBERSERK that cage is our way to train people for multiple opponent and close quarter combat.

Donnie! Did you ever spar one of your beginner students and have a tough time with them. I only am asking because I train people in combat self defense and some of my best sparring sessions are the raw, powerful and awkward students. I feel they resemble a street fighting experience more than my advanced students.

@clearcombat I've always found that fighting or sparring anyone with no formal training carries a bigger risk than fighting someone with experience. You're right, strikes will be totally unpredictable, from angles you don't expect. The untrained individual will always catch me off guard. I completely agree with you.
