If you get a piece of paper that says you are divorced, does that necessarily mean God authorizes you to remarry?

  • >Do I think people who have fornicated are not allowed to marry? No. Lots of fornicators who are shacking up should get married.< Oh, I get it, as long as people do the deviant and sinful thing of not getting married before having sex, you approve of those people getting married later in life, only punish those that took the risk of trying to do the right thing of getting married before having sex, and if they divorce, off with their heads, no marriage allowed for them. Is this Hypocritical?

  • @RightToAnEducation Off with their heads? You are misrepresenting my position.

  • In light of your teaching, have you ever made a fuss over people that have had sex before marriage forbidding them to marry? Are those people free to marry? They are not divorced because they didn't take the risk of doing the moral thing of getting married before having sex. And many of them have had abortions. So, are you harder on people that got married than people that didn't even bother and furthermore aborted their children?

  • @RightToAnEducation My point in pointing out Christ's teaching on this issue is not to be hard on people. Do I think people who have fornicated are not allowed to marry? No. Lots of fornicators who are shacking up should get married.

  • As others point out on here. Somehow it is forgivable to have a million partners and not get married, than to get married at say 18 and divorced at 19, and have to remain a monk or nun until one of you dies. You think that this would be what God would expect of a person? Or if a person was not a Christian and had been remarried and then became a Christian, now they are suppose to separate themselves from their spouse and break up the family? Are their children bastards?

  • Polygamy was not God's ideal either, yet many of his prophets and Kings had many wives. Did they have trouble as a result of it? yes. Did God condemn their souls for it? no. A person is condemned, based on what the bible teaches, for unbelief, not for how much you fall short of being a super fundamentalist Christian. We are called to love one another, and to love God in the best way that we can, imperfect as that is going to be. Faith is what saves us, not how great our works are.

  • Paul gives 3 classes of people my friend, further more the Sermon on Mount is giving the example of the highest possible standard that no one can live up to, mainly in an attack against the Pharisees who claimed they had it all figured out and were obeying the law to the letter. Is divorce wrong? of course. why? because it breaks a covenant. Is remarriage sinful? don't think the bible teaches this, as it is better to marry than to burn in lust.

  • THIS IS WHY religion is separated from the state.

  • My only question is is that is it ok for me to marry someone else seeing how I was single before marrying and my ex was divorced from a previous marriage? No kids with ex so that's not an issue.

  • Truth. AMEN !

  • Excellent. You are truly able to read the Bible and understand it clearly. I invite you to read either of my books (free) the Ultimate Goal Of Life. In deed either permanent marriage or in case of divorce (separation) then remain permanently chaste. That is the truth no matter how we twist it or rationalize it, it does not change. It is logic not only Biblical and you argued it well. Blessings

  • Prophets! (1) I wish to make one thing clear. God told us in I Cor 7: 20 to remain in whatever status we are when we are called bc the coming days are evil, you don't want to tag along any burden & distraction. (2) Our Lord clearly spoke of a group of people whom Satan have made unpopular in today's preaching, see them in Matt 19: 11-12. The Lord said, Not all are able to receive this Saying "Whoever is able to receive it should take it." See the First Fruits in Rev 14: 4, They are VIRGINS.

  • What about the woman at the well, who had five husbands and was living with a man she was not married to,Jesus didn't condemn her,he told her about his way of salvation and then sent her to tell others, which tells me he can forgive anyone and use them to his glory.

  • Divorce and remarriage is very complicated to me. This is what I think, if I marry a man and find out later he had a first wife and cheated on her and I find out later I'm in adultery I would divorce him even if I have kids by him. Next: If I marry a man that committed adultery I would divorce him and remain single until he passes away. This is my understanding.
