This was the end of a police chase and the Sgt. doesn't want video coverage from a credentialed member of the press. The photog asks how far to move back but the sgt. says no you can't shoot it at all. Notice the road is open to traffic, there are people without a camera that are standing there and even some kids walk straight through the scene. The photog moves a block away and shoots from the next street over and that's when he's arrested and charged with Obstruction of Governmental Administration....how can you obstruct from a block away.

  • First off to answer your question as to why this needed to be taped. That's our job, we do it for a full time living. In NY we feed a daily news animal that is the #1 media market in the world. There's no altruistic reason like to protect the public from tyranny or anything convoluted like that, it's plain old supply and demand. Yes we tape homicides too..everyday. There's no secrets to hide from us. And on the off chance that we "see" something that we shouldn't, ( I've been doing this 23 year

  • @ErockWErock People who were blurred were done so because they were not acting like idiots. They didn't go nuts, as a matter of fact they didn't care that he was there. So out of RESPECT for them they were blurred out....not out of necessity. FYI....the entire County of Suffolk has admitted that this Sgt. was wrong from the DA to the Commissioner and a lawsuit for wrongful arrest has been filed.

  • @gearbow actually no, supreme court of the us ruled that a citizen may resist unlawful arrest with deadly force if necessary

  • That cop was a chickenshit. If you're not doing anything wrong, why worry about being taped? EVERYBODY should now pull out their cell phones and film any cop activity.

  • so he said that he has been doing this for 30 yrs little cranky HMM

the higest paid asswipes that dont do a hell of alot

SCCCC suffolk county contry club cops oh how i hate suffolk police over paid and under worked

  • @broadcast20081

It's called the FIRST AMENDMENT OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION

  • @TakerServant

BECAUSE THE COP IS VIOLATING HIS CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS! YOU MAY FRIEND ARE THE DUMBASS. GOOD LUCK BEING A "SHEEPLE"!

  • To the people that are taking the cops side, this video wouldn't have been posted if the cop was right. The media know their boundaries.

  • I have heard that it's absolutely not ilegal to videotape cops working. Where is that??? Once I got arrested just because I checked out the cop's tag after he insulted me with anti-ga slurs.

  • @KZwolf i realize that judges will accept a cops testimony as truth over a suspects...however that is what the right to a trial by jury is for...getting 12 people to believe you is easier

  • Gotta know the law if your gonna protect it jerkbag!. Easy payday for anyone who lets themselves get arrested for videotaping lol.
