  • Really Mr. Forbes? The Democratic president needs to reach out to the republicans? When the president proposes a health care policy that was originally a republican governors plan and the republicans turn it down.Really? And when the president recommends raising taxes on the wealthy, like you, who pay substantially less than the hard working middle class that you refer to and you the republicans turn it down, even though Warren Buffett said tax me, the democrats have to reach out more?Really?

  • Hello MR. FORBES,AS ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS IN THE 4TH DIST.WE HAVE TALKED BEFORE ABOUT THE THINGS REGARDING THE MILITARY.I HOPE WE WILL BE SUCCESSFUL WITH THE UPCOMMING NEW COMMANDER IN CHIEF IN 2013.I HAVE NEVER BEEN AS PERPLEXED ABOUT THE DIRECTION OF OUR COUNTRY.BEING LED.AS A RETIRED U.S.MARINE AND ONLY 64 YEARS OLD I GUESS I HAVEN;T LIVED LONG ENOUGH TO SEE PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY DESTROY IT IN SO MANY WAYS.AND GETTING AWAY WITH IT,RUBBING IT IN OUR FACES.

  • (continued) ...we may have a respectful disagreement on left vs right economic policy, but since there shall be "no religious test for public office" (Article VI, U.S. Constitution) you must surely concede that you are overreaching when it comes to faith interference and government?

  • Mr. Forbes, the founding fathers agreed that government has no business meddling in the affairs of religion. They also agreed that the only way to do that is to remain absolutely neutral on matters of church and state. Therefore, I fail to see how using the State of the Union should be an opportunity to address "prayer [in] the public arena" (surely you don't think sectarian prayer should be endorsed by the US government??). We may have a respectful disagreement on left vs right economic policy
