This is mostly-capitalism. Any time the state intervenes with or subsidizes a private corporation, we get further from free market and capitalism. Please show me where capitalism entails the government giving money to private corporations when they do a bad job?

No, it's what happens when you bail out companies without putting decent rules and regulations on them. Every bloody CEO should have been sacked. The full division in control of risk management at those companies should have been sacked.
Every government agent in control of checking up on them should be sacked. Lay down the new rules and lay them down hard. Check up on them and act like you've got a pair.
