Spencer, age 8, played this AADGT-Winning rendition of the Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu at DM Piano School Recital on 26-Jun-2009, and basically has "blown the roof" of the place. This was one of the two pieces that won him Silver Medal at AADGT International Young Musicians Competition "Passion of Music 2009" in May 2009 in New York.

The video was taken at the same time as the video posted by Dimitri Kubyshkin on Kybynya's Channel, but from different angle. This gives us a wonderful opportunity to watch the reactions of the audience full of surprise and amazement, while Spencer "rocked the place", which was filled with teachers, parents of the young pianists, and other aficionados. It also gives an explanation why he was turning his head towards the audience so much

Have fun watching - I did!

  • You definitely bring to the table an idea that is shared by some aficionados. Thanks for your honesty.

  • that cute little boy in thebowtie learned alot about life while watching this kid play... kinda sucks when you realize years later someone your age is lightyears ahead.... humbling...

  • @darristheman Thanks for the very kind comment - too kind perhaps. That little boy was about 5 years old and pretty good budding pianist himself, but we do not know how well he is doing. He really enjoyed Spencer's fooling around at the piano.

  • Ha i can play this with my Eyes closed!. :) Jk. I can only play the first page haha.

  • @jthameschoir08 Thanks, this is one of my favourite pieces, and I like the video too - fro me it is always fun to watch the reactions on the faces of the audience. Bob (and Spencer)

  • Jaw is still on the floor! Incredible,

  • @hitchenc019 Thanks again. We just returned from Europe, where he played the entire first movement of Beethoven's Concerto No. 3! That caused a bit of a "ripple", especially after people realized he is only 10...

  • You may find me a little cold maybe, but I don't like kids playing great pieces, they demand some maturity which comes only with time. although he played very nicely, in my opinion he'd be better off playing something else. Wrong accents in scales woudn't happen, pauses serving his technique etc. In short, I want to listen to the piece, regardless if the pianist is 8 or 80 years old.

  • Jaw is still on the floor! Incredible,

  • @KMillss He loves thi piece very much - about as much as the Rachmaninoff's "Bells of Moscow" Thanks!
